Summer Workshops Booking up Fast!
At Smart Hands Studio, we’re proud to support the home education community with creative, hands-on woodwork workshops during the school day. Our workshops offer children a chance to develop practical skills, confidence, and creativity — while enjoying the company of others in a safe, inspiring environment.
These sessions are designed specifically for home-educated children aged 4 and up. Each class is small and personal, with a maximum of 4 spaces per session, ensuring every child gets plenty of attention and guidance from our experienced staff. We run weekly home education woodwork sessions in small, age-appropriate groups. On Tuesdays (1:30–2:30pm) we welcome children aged 4–7, and on Wednesdays (11–12pm) we work with ages 8–11.
Workshops run during the school day in half-termly blocks. Parents book in advance for a full block of sessions to secure their child’s place.
These are drop-and-go sessions — so you can leave your child with us and enjoy a little time for yourself, knowing they are in a safe and engaging space.
Through these sessions, children will:
✅ Learn how to use real tools safely and responsibly
✅ Develop fine and gross motor skills
✅ Practice planning, problem-solving, and creative thinking
✅ Build confidence and pride in making something with their own hands
✅ Experience working independently and taking ownership of their projects
✅ Strengthen social skills by sharing the space with other home-educated children
As well as building practical skills, our workshops give children a chance to meet others in the home education community, make friends, and enjoy the social side of learning together in a relaxed and supportive setting.

We look forward to welcoming your child to Smart Hands Studio soon!
Tuesday: Ages 8-11
Time: 1:30-2:30pm Our Tuesday afternoon session is for older home-educated children aged 8–11 years. These workshops encourage children to develop more advanced skills, problem-solving, and independence as they work on more challenging projects. The small group size allows for plenty of individual attention while giving children space to take ownership of their work and socialise with peers.
Wednesday: Ages 4-7
Time: 11-12pm Our Wednesday morning session is designed for younger home-educated children aged 4–7 years. These gentle, creative workshops introduce children to basic woodwork techniques through age-appropriate projects. With plenty of guidance and encouragement, children develop confidence, coordination, and pride in their creations — all in a calm, supportive space.
