About Smart Hands Studio
My name is Charlotte Cala, and I am the driving force behind Smart Hands Studio Woodwork Club. With over sixteen years of experience as a qualified primary school teacher, including five years as the Design and Technology Development Lead across 16 schools within the Xavier Trust, I bring a wealth of knowledge and passion to my teaching. While I have enjoyed guiding educational practices at a leadership level, my true love lies in being back in the classroom, working directly with children and sharing in their creative journeys.
At Smart Hands Studio, we offer woodworking clubs for children aged 3-11 in our studio, located in the heart of Molesey along the High Street, at the rear of La Cosa Nostra Barber Shop. Our clubs are designed to place children at the centre of their creative experiences, nurturing their curiosity and empowering them to bring their ideas to life. We foster an environment where children feel confident to explore, take risks, and shape their own woodworking projects.
Our termly courses are a balanced mix of teacher-led projects, where essential skills and techniques are taught, and child-led projects, where young learners have the freedom to pursue their own creative ideas. This approach ensures that each session is both educational and personally meaningful, allowing children to develop their craftsmanship while expressing their individuality.
